I built my first website in 1996 before the World Wide Web was really a ‘thing’ that anyone who didn’t read Computer Magazines knew much about, let alone had any use of. At the time I was running my own small advertising and publishing business.
I was fascinated by the possibilities of the Web.
I left my native Sweden for a job in London working for AOL – America Online – the world’s largest Internet Service Provider at the time. I stayed there for 7 years, building their web presence in the UK and Europe, launching a long line of ‘firsts’ such as Instant Messaging, Blogging, chat rooms and a long line of things that we now take for granted.
In 2003 I moved to New Zealand and started working at Telecom, looking after a team of developers and content editors and designing solutions for online self-service.
In 2008 I moved to Weta Workshop, where I have been responsible for e-commerce, PR, Social media and other comms. I have created packaging design, written online copy, conceived 5 different websites and a whole heap of associated activities – overseas trade shows, Amazon sales… the list is long.
And in my spare time I run two web shops. Dude.co.nz and Fromscratch.nz. Partly because it’s fun and partly as test beds for experiments and so that I can give you first-hand advice on the new e-commerce platforms, such as Shopify that I used to build my sites.
And now I’d like to put all that in your service.
Will you let me?
